Sullivan County

sunapee-lake-nhPeople seem to be interested in “keeping it simple” and wanting to stay closer to home instead of traveling to far away resorts. A weekend getaway to the Sunapee Lake region might just be your ticket! If you are looking for a cozy cottage or bungalow there are some for sale right now. Perhaps you enjoy entertaining and will need a large waterfront home with many bedrooms for your guests; this type of property is also available. As the old saying goes, “…they just are not making ‘more water front…” Water front properties in the Sunapee region has always been a good investment in spite of economic situations.

Recently I had a client ask me “What is the average days on the market (DOM) for waterfront property on the Sunapee Lake?” My answer was it’s really hard to come up with that exact number because some people take their property off the market during the winter months. This could be because they winterize the property because they will not be using the house during the winter months and choose not to plow the driveways, making access near impossible without snowshoes! They will wait for spring to relist their property. The fact that the snow just melted and we just had eleven waterfront properties come on the market in April alone validates this. (none of these new listings are foreclosures). [click to continue…]

The pulse of Claremont is beating strong. The synergy and excitement can be felt by just viewing the Mill project from the visitors center, across the river. Claremont has recently been under the spot light because of many exciting changes in the city. Granite State College has expanded its facility in its current downtown location. The Common Man restaurant is scheduled to have its grand opening Late May early June 2009 in its new location on the Sugar River in the Mill Project. Red River Computer has moved its corporate world headquarters into the Mill Project as well. Red River is expected to be moving in mid June 2009. Lowes is finally under construction and their expected opening is scheduled for fall of 2009. These are just a few of the reasons Claremont, NH is in the spotlight!

So, what does all this have to do with the pulse of the real estate market? A lot! [click to continue…]

Lake Sunapee Real Estate Market Update

by Bean Group on April 7, 2009

lake_sunapeeThe snow has melted and there is open water on the lake! You can almost hear the sigh from the people around the lake. Around the lake, the sign of spring is not the robins returning, but the boat covers coming off the boats! Of course, if you’re a kayaker the water is already waiting for you!

Waterfront property on Lake Sunapee has always been a good investment. With any investment thou, location is key. Sunapee Lake is one of those great locations. Both Big and Little Lake Sunapee have some protected shoreline, so there will always be views of the lakes’ natural state. They both have views of mountains and the water quality is wonderful.

On the “Big” lake you can do all the water sports, sailing, motor boating, kayaking, sculling, jet skiing, water skiing, wake boarding, wake surfing (yes, I said SURFING ), kite surfing, fishing or just relax while you ride along the shoreline. The big lake has 3 dockside gas stations (Georges Mills harbor, Sunapee Harbor & Newbury Harbor). Little Lake Sunapee, you can do the same as on the Big Lake, except Little Lake Sunapee has a jet ski restriction & no dockside gas stations. Both lakes are 5 minutes from I-89 and are approximately a 2 hour drive from Boston. This makes the Sunapee Lakes a great weekend get-away!
